Flight of Butterflies at Fernbank Museum of Natural History
An outdoor Fernbank exhibit brings larger-than-life butterfly sculptures to the paths of WildWoods.
Flight of Butterflies at Fernbank Museum of Natural History turns WildWoods into an outdoor path of color, nature and storytelling.
The exhibit features 25 butterfly sculptures, each standing more than seven feet tall, inspired by real butterfly species and by the artists' connections to nature. Visitors can walk the trails and encounter works that explore metamorphosis, evolution and the role butterflies play in healthy ecosystems.
Set among the trees and paths of WildWoods, the installation combines art and natural history in a way that is easy to enjoy at a family pace. The larger-than-life butterflies offer a vivid reminder that nature has stories to tell, from familiar local species to threatened butterflies that need continued protection.
Dates: March 14 – June 7, 2026
